Yeah, most of the armored cars I see are based on tilt-nose medium duty trucks.

That and they usually keep the original chassis cab intact

I’ve never seen an armored car with an unmodified cab. They are all armored to protect the drivers.

I don’t know if Dunbar has to clear some DOT standard about visibility... but that crazy big windshield must weigh about 300kg on its own... seems a bit unnecessary since armoured glass is both more expensive, worse, and heavier than the steel plates that frame it

In my area the brinks trucks look pretty close to that except they are not as high profile. Others I’ve seen use modified vans.
